Spaggettie
Such an unusual name for an unusual cat
I really wish you had stayed when my sister and I sat
On the porch outside on that hot summer day
Dear little Spaggettie, we just wanted to play
We stayed outside as minutes dragged into hours
Until we saw small ears pop up from behind some flowers
"Over here Spaggettie! Won't you please come back?
We have cat food and water! I'm sure you're hungry for a snack!"
The emaciated kitty very slowly crept towards
One paw in front of the other gradually moving forward
Excited smiles plastered onto our faces
As Spaggettie kept walking we dare not move from our places
I held my breath and she held the bowl
When the small little kitty got close to his goal
It proved too much for her — shrill laughter uncontained
Spaggettie shot up and very quickly ascertained
The situation he was in; he then started to flee
A groan, then a sigh, "Kitty please come back to me!"

Slugs in the Basement
Stairs creak under my feet
Dim light slowly flickers on
Unfolded clothes — not very neat
A soft green jacket, I don
Cool breeze chills me to the bone
Small meow and cat soon follows along
Descend these basement steps all alone
Next thing I know, I see something so... wrong
Several small slugs stuck along the machine
"Yeah, this is great. This is just what I need...
Now how am I supposed to get my clothes clean?"
I call to my sister to come do "the deed"
"Do ya want some free slugs? I really hate them a ton!
They're gross and disgusting — I think the cat ate one!"
She stands back and tries to make sense of their placement
Both perplexed and bemused, we leave the slugs in the basement
Dim light slowly flickers on
Unfolded clothes — not very neat
A soft green jacket, I don

i wish my mommy was a pterodactyl
it was a strange thing timmy did admit
as he sat all alone in his room
upon making his wish, the genie had a laughing fit
and timmy felt a sense of impending doom
knowing things were not quite right
(he wished for more excitement in his life)
the boy sped down a single flight
but downstairs stood a monster — back arched and beak sharp as a knife
"mommy where are you?" timmy felt dysphoric
with his mother now nowhere in sight
little did he know mommy was now prehistoric
as the monster leaped up and took flight
instantly regretting everything that he said
timmy ran all the way to his neighbors
once they saw "mommy" they also quickly fled
his request for help had zero takers
in his mad dash home, timmy fell on his head
he awoke from a terrible dream
the boy took off the covers and got out of bed
he whispered, "man, genies sure can be mean..."

Procrastination Poem
tap my pen against my chin
my patience now beginning to thin
curse myself for letting this rot
"coulda, woulda, shoulda," I thought
all by myself at my desk-like station
slowly drowning myself in procrastination
my time management skills: absolutely horrendous
the day I get this all done will surely be momentous
hours tick by with nothing completed
with each glance at the clock, I feel more defeated
just keep telling myself that I'll start this soon
but I never did seem to like the sound of that tune
my patience now beginning to thin
curse myself for letting this rot
"coulda, woulda, shoulda," I thought
all by myself at my desk-like station
slowly drowning myself in procrastination
my time management skills: absolutely horrendous
the day I get this all done will surely be momentous
hours tick by with nothing completed
with each glance at the clock, I feel more defeated

but I never did seem to like the sound of that tune
My Neighbors, the Homicidal Maniacs
It was probably when her piano stopped playing
That was when I first questioned and started saying
"Guys, I think their daughter is dead...
When will you get it into your heads?"
I bet they drowned her in a lake
Might've even left her in the desert to bake
Could've buried her in their obnoxious garden
Not even sure they deserve a pardon
How come they're always digging strange holes?
Is it so they can hide those unfortunate souls
That they managed to lure in their devilish trap
Then all of a sudden, with an incredible THWAP,
Victim hit in the head with a gardening shovel
Slowly surrounded by the horrible couple
Torn apart, limb from limb
Everything devoured — bone and skin
Compared to theirs, our front yard's a mess
The only option to beat them's black magic, I guess
- Not Crazy

work in progress
its jarring color clashes with her warm hues
and spoils the incompleted work
she has much to learn, yet they insist
as an ill-fitting crown meets her head
slowly it slides down over her face
and covers her eyes
though before she can blink it's position is fixed
but do her loyal subjects not see
that the crown just does not fit
their watercolor queen?

the livingroom couch
as the sun slowly crawls back underground
they will rest in this comfortable silence
not a single creature out and around
a plethora of lost thoughts to be found
while they laze and pretend to be giants
mountains and mountains of blankets surround
active imagination knows no bounds
some children enjoying free time: timeless
stagnant summer heat holds their bodies down
alarm clock, forgotten, remains unwound
cars inch past blasting music — their sirens
eyes gently flutter shut then hush — no sound
"9 PM smile" now turned into a frown
"don't sleep now; it's summer" said with shyness
whispers until the dreamer comes 'round
in the morning, awake, loud yawns resound
sleepy feet march in pairs with compliance
as the sun then rises from underground
they will be the only creatures around

what is
soft fur
rumbling purr
copper penny eyes
sleeps well
jingling bell
made for catching flies
fat cat
eyes — I bat
not telling any lies
i say his name
you never look at me the same
yeah, I might've named a black cat Mayo

the truest thing i know
yesterday i had a slice of cherry pie
if i gave my cat some, she would die
i wouldn't like that, not one bit
then i would have to bury her in a pit
she won't be as soft after she decays
if i don't have my kitty i'll be lonely for days
who would sit on my printer in times of need
and constantly meow while i try to read?
these little things make my kitty my kitty
the cutest, softest, most adorable pretty
creature that ever graced your eyes
and to think we started this talking about pies...

Thugisa's Agenda
Easter Dave, leave the "stuff" out back
I'll send you the money later
Your goods — they are always on track
To my needs, you always cater
Easter Dave, did you get my cash?
I made sure he gave it to you
And if not, his skull I will bash
So please sit tight and wait a few
Easter Dave, the man's not quite dead
But you do know what snitches get
Not my fault he messed with my head
He'll be needing stitches, I bet
Swimming? No way; what do you mean?
This show was never 'bout the team

burf, please don't
why'd you decide to put a cornflake on the cat?
she just purred and meowed and innocently sat
as you continued to pile the crisps on her back
but wouldn't you rather eat them for a snack?
mom and i told you to stop wasting food
we still need to get her in a really good mood
you scratch my back; i'll scratch yours
instead, do the laundry so she'll take us to stores
with lots of new candies for us to try
so if you stop wasting cornflakes, it's mom who will buy
